Rich was one of the finest men I have ever known. He was kind, considerate, outgoing and friendly. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and when he laughed, his brown eyes sparkled. He had a knack of giving people he loved nick names that always seemed to stick. He was a fine athlete and had a left handed grace that was poetry in motion. We were best friends for over 50 years and I will miss him every day. When he called me with the terrible news of his grim diagnosis in September, I called our other "brother" and best friend, Peter Schofield, and we flew to Tucson and spent most of a week with him and had a wonderful time together again, the "three amigos" one last time.
Rich was an avid runner, running in the Boston Marathon just a few short years ago. He was running six miles a day when he experienced shortness of breath. About eight weeks later he was gone. Heartbreaking!
RIP Rich, love Brian

So sorry and thank you for writing a memory. Glad the Tres Amigos got together.

So sorry to hear the sad news about Rich. While I just knew him from High School he was a good guy. May he be with our Lord Yeshua... Blessings to his family/

I remember this happy go lucky person from elementary school. He was always ready with something humorous to share. This is quite a loss.

What a great guy Rich was. Quick wit and a good heart. I am sure everything Brian said is true.
Rich lived on the street behind me and we were on the track team together. He was a talented athlete and pole vaulter. I spent a lot of time at his house (and in his pool) the summer following our sophomore year. We remained friends through high school, and I recall getting together once or twice after high school. Rich is one of the people I regret not staying in touch with over the years. One of the good guys.
