Happy birthday Bill, it was really nice to see you at Victory Park which was part of the reunion. Too bad we could not make it that evening since it was our 39th wedding anniversary. It was nice to talk to many classmates, especially those from the swim and polo team. I plan to go to the next together as I will not be teaching any more. I plan to retire after 43 years of teaching in June of 2020.

Chris, happy birthday tomorrow and I hope you are enjoying your retirement. I have 1.5 more years of teaching before I'm done. My wife and I went to Victory Park on June 23 2018 during the day as part of the reunion. I saw a lot of people I had not seen for many years, most of them were on the swim or waterpolo team. Take care and enjoy your time in Arizona.

Hi Nancy and a happy belated birthday. I went to part of the reunion at Victory Park and saw several people from the swim team. Your name came up several times as well as some others. I talked to Bill Cameron for awhile and we both wondered how you were doing. I just finished my summer school in June, have July off and then start up again in August. Two more years of teaching before I retire. My wife and I will be going to Colorado for a week to visit several relatives;we lived there for 4 years. Well take care of yourself.

Happy birthday Bill, if you are still working I hope you had a nice day off. Tomorrow I go back to school and I am busy planning field trips with my Avid students. In November took 96 juniors for 5 days to see colleges in N Cal. Next month taking 45 10th graders to see schools in San Diego and during Spring break in March taking 36 elite juniors and seniors to the East Coast for 7 nights. We will be seeing all types of schools between Boston and DC. Luckily my wife, Kris will be able to go as she is fully recovered after having both knees replaced and is already retired after having taught elementary school for 20 years. Sorry this is late but I hope you had a nice day.

Dear Chris, happy birthday and I hope you are enjoying your retirement. Tomorrow I start school again, I am in my 41st year of teaching and will retire in May 2020 since I will have 35 years with the Fontana school district and will receive lifetime medical benefits for both my wife and I. This March I will be taking some of me elite junior and senior AVID students as well as a few other students to look at colleges from Boston to Washington,DC. Most of my students will be first generation college students. Hopefully the weather will be nicer than when I did this in 2014 when the temps were between 11 and 50 degrees. It was not easy to make plane reservations for 36 students and 14 adults. Are you going to the reunion, you told me a couple of years ago you went to something the day before. The day of the reunion is my 39th wedding anniversary, so I am not sure what to do. When I retire in 2020, we plan to relocate to someplace a little cooler and a place that has Kaiser hospital for my wife. We do not have a plan A, we like to have 2 places to live with one of them being the Big Island in Hawaii. Take care my friend and have not been to Pasadena nor Lake Ave Congregational for a very long time.

Bill, thanks for writing back. I don't know if you know that my brother's picture was in the OMSI in Portland for a long time. He did a lot of expeditions with their oceanography dept; they went to the South Pole at least twice. You are welcome to stay with us in Riverside if you plan to come down this summer. Just a thought, I believe that there are still several classmates in the Pasadena area. Maybe these people might be willing to open up their home for the classmates that are traveling from far away. Many of them are retired and are on a limited budget. I hope that there are others reading this and can respond to this. It is just a tought.

Hi Bill, it has been a long time since I heard anything about you. I did hear from my brother Andy, who works at OSU in Corvallis, that you were somewhere in Oregon. I am still in Socal, but did live in the Denver area from 1981-85. I will be starting my 41st year of teaching in a week. I've taught mostly math in high school as well as a program called AVID. This program's objective is to get more low income and first generation students into 4 yr universities and I've been the high school's coordinator since 1999. I also coached for 31 years, mostly water polo, swimming, and soccer. i will retire in 3 years but where my wife and I want to live is TBD since our 3 kids and 4 grandkids all live in the Inland Empire. Blast from the past: I had cataract surgery done last year and the surgeon was Dr Gary Groesbeck, PHS 1972, remember him from the Bullfrog swim team and beach parties. He was in the same grade as my sister, Anita. Well it was nice to hear about you and take care of youself as I always considered you as a very good friend.

Dear Alfred,
Happy Birthday! It's been a long time since we talked. I probably saw you more at Marshall than PHS, Since I was playing lots of sports and you were in ROTC. Current;ly I am in my 40th year of teaching. Throughtout my career I have taught mainly math and also AVID. AVID is a program to get more low income first generation and minority students into 4 year colleges and universities. This is my 32 nd year with the Fontana School District. After I teach 3 more years, the district will give me lifetime medical benefits for my wife and I. I haven't decided yet if I will go to the 50th reunion. However, I might attempt the A.M. activity the day at victory parki. I hope all is well with you.
Both of my parents are still alive and are currently living in Upland. Take care - Dave

Hi Karen, you really don't know me very well but your dad did. I played water polo and swimming all three years at PHS when he was my coach. After high school I played water polo and swam at PCC While I was going to CSULA I became a volunteer water polo coach for your dad since there was not a coach for the 9th/10th grade team. I also assisted him with the varsity and ran the summer polo program there. I did this for 5 years while I was getting my teaching credential in math and history. I really appreciated that your dad gave me the opportunity to coach under him. I coached at several other schools where I taught: LA Banning, Fontana HS, Kaiser HS my current school and Arlington HS in Riverside where my son played polo and swam. I stopped coaching in 2006 but I will always remember your dad.

Hi Chris and happy birthday, all of us are getting up there in age. I am still working, my 39th year of teaching,31 years in Fontana. I plan to work 4 more years in order to qualify for lifetime medical benefits for my wife and I. I don't really feel old and still have lots of energy. Every Spring I take around 100 of my junior AVID students for 5 or 6 days to Northern California to see 13 to 16 colleges. This March we are going all the way up to Humboldt in Arcata,Ca.. This is a great experience for my students as almost all of them are the first in their family to go to college. Last summer my wife Kris and I renewed our wedding vows in the water(partially) at sunset on Kaanapali Beach in Maui. The kids and grandkids were there also. I hope you are enjoying your retirement. My wife will retire this year after teaching for 20 years in elementary school.

Hi Joe, remember 7th grade woodshop at Marshall, I had only been in this country for only one month. Everyone in the class was able to work on their class projects except for Erik Vodegel and I. It was not until you taught us our first English sentence "when are we going to work" did we get to start working on our lamp. Thank you again and have a happy 65th birthday. Dave Ungerer
