I actually do have my uniform though not the shoes or gloves.  I wore it for Halloween a few years back. It was a little snug but if I held my breath...

Linda.  How awesome you still have your shoes, they actually look good for what they went thru.  Hang onto them.

Where you moving too?

Im heading to Desert Hot Springs for retirement next year.

Sheryl, Congrats on your retirement to Desert Hot Springs -- The "Flying Public" will miss you!  I would have liked to host you, Alice, Ann + anyone else for mini reunion here in Portland but house is sold and we will be homeless for awhile.  Stuff is going to storage & we will rent in Sedona/Mesa for the winter.

I was remembering some Eugene Field days.  We tormented your older sister at the cabin .. inventive little girls.  Were you on the walking field trip to Hastings Library when I picked poison oak, tossed it on Donna Pechota who broke out in a horrible rash?  I had a lesser reaction.  So sorry, Donna.  While I'm apologizing for behavior I remember Christine Farley's slumber party where neighbor Marshall Switzer was chased and tackled by us girls. Sorry, Marshall.  Bad form and I must have felt some remorse to remember the incident.

Is anyone in contact with Ann Simmons?  Would like to catch up with her.  She isn't on the Forum.

Cheers & Happy Travels --  wink Linda

Linda,

Areyou moving to Sedona, Arizona. Pretty there. After that where will you go?

Fortunately/unfortunately my memory growing up is muddled.  I have suppressed so much of the bad that the good is stuck in the fog of my brain all mushed together. Someone will mention things and sometimes it clicks a memory back.

I do remember slumbers at Christine's and Terri's and Linda Riley's.  Marshall Switzer I don't remember that happening. I know I went to the Hastings Library a lot living with my aunt in Hastngs Ranch but don't remember the poison ivy.  Face it, we were kids and did goofy or bad things. Haha!

Christine lives in Lake Arrowhead but she never answers me. Haven't seen her for years.

I have grand memories of times of Lake Arrowhead but have blocked out stuff on evil stepsisters . Love Lake Arrowhead still as I go up there when I visit home and Friends.  Cabin is still there in Blue Jay.

Wherever you go , stay in touch, would love to see you more than a brief at a reunion.  It was so good seeing you last time.

Hugs

Just renting in Sedona -- have hiking buddies who live there full time.  Plan to be in So. Cal late December so maybe could arrange a get together if you are in town.  My brother Wayne (Class of '66) lives in Simi.  Back to Tigard in January to move to a duplex I own & plan adventures in an Airstream trailer.  Woo Hoo.  BTW, my parents are still living (ages 91 & 93).  Mom is on Mar Vista & Dad in assisted living in Simi Valley.  Hugs!!

Linda, sounds like you willbe having some good times. An Airatream.... Driving all over will be great.

I won't be retired til Aug 2016 but willbe in and out of Cali with my new home in Desert Hot Springs on vacations. We will have to hook up after that.

Good for mom and dad, wow to be that age is beyond my thinking.

Take care in those hikes

I've been reading all the posts and can no longer not join in!!! I think if was the picture of the drill team shoes that put me over the edge!. I would love a get together with the drill team at the reunion. Let me know what I can do to help (living in Colorado Springs, but we can be there the week before). Can't wait to see everyone at the 50th!

Camay White (Arad-Tullis)

Hi all Drill Team, Band and Song Girls from an envious cheerleader! Just remembering all the wonderful games and performances gives me the chills.  I hope you can get together and do a routine for the 50th. I remember writing in my "goals" notebook at Marshall that I wanted to be a cheerleader at PHS and I did accomplish that.   I did love our squad, Beck Sanborn, John Jackson, Cheryl Osti and Jane Scurr,  but oh I envied those who got to march and perform with the band.
One of my cherished experiences was getting to "march" with the Song girls holding the letters in a parade in Long Beach.  Maybe someone will teach me a mini routine at the 50th and I can join in???? "Glory Days...oh they'll pass you by.."

What a GREAT pic of the PHS cheerleaders!!!!.  What i do remember was the cheerleaders coming all three years to Chaffey, and even to Long Beach. They never seemed miss any performance with the band.

I recently came across these photos from the 20th reunion and thought it would be fun to share.
The first one is of Ann Simmons and her husband Fred Burgr. Sadly they have both passed since this picture. Ann passed away in 2001. I wrote a memorium for Ann that I am sure will be posted soon.

I had a great time with some of my Sierra Madre friends. Here is Ann again, Wyatt Dietrich, Jack Ross, Bill Cameron in the background on the left and Loretta Packard smiling at Ann. I am not sure who is facing forward in the background.

Here is Lana Riggins and Gary Hesse. Who is behind Lana?

Last, here I am with Ann and Wyatt

What a photo find -- thank you so much for posting.  Very sad to hear about Ann's passing.  She was a Bright Spirit.  angel  Big smile and even bigger heart.

Oh How I wish I had my song girl dress. ! last time I saw it my daughter was about 6 and she  wore it for halloween!!! i haven't seen it since. I love the idea of performing. Maybe I can see if I could have one made, haaaaaa.  I talking to Ahme Sawicki Erickson and convincing her and her husband to come to the 50th. Keep your fingers crossed. I talk to her regularly so I hope she still decides to come. How fun would it be to see her!!!! if I can reach Marily, Susie, Ginny it would be a hoot. I am planning to convince Clay to get a band because i miss the music of our time and would love to hear some music from the 60's. So again let me know if anyone knows where Susie Powell is located. THanks Sue warrick ...

Hi Sue,

No one seems to mention Luther Burbank elementary or Eliot Jr High much. Still Bob's Big Boys around. Remember Tiny Naylor's in addition to Moonlight Roller Rink on Colorado. Anyone still in touch with Mark Mead or JimLeeming. I know Jim was in Washington but lost track of him. Maybe Joe Silver knows. Larry Curtis was Professor Emeritus at CSULB last I looked.

Sorry Judd,  but the only person I've seen from Pasadena HS over the last 45yrs or so is Jim Patten and that was at least 25 yrs ago when my daughter was a freshman at WSU( shes 40 now).As far as i know, he  and his wife are retired now and living in the Bremerton area. That info could be wrong.

Thanks Joe! Just wondering if someone knew where Jim Leeming is.

Got notes FM Janet with her known info on both Jim Leeming and Mark Tons but both seems wrong after checking them out.

After reading thru the forum notes, here are some memories:

Went to Wrigley Field and Coliseum to see angels play before Anaheim built. Wrigley has been gone for some time now. Saw Mantle, Maris, and Kaline play there. Remember Angels expansion team in 1961. Went to an AFL doubleheader at Anaheim long time ago when football played there.

Was at Chavez Ravine when it opened and didn't have enough water fountains and moths the size of small bats.

I remember Bud Ireland regally picking up our PHS trophy for winning Chaffey band competition. We performed the British show. We used to sing Four Seasons (Let's Hang On) on band bus after games. Pep band performed at pep rallies as well as basketball games. played Great Escape theme as well as Steve Allen's "Zing went the strings of my heart."

Concert band and orchestra performed in Spring. We also went on performance tours. The Long Beach All Western band review was parade competition for marching band. Hanging at at Nu-Pike after competition until award ceremony.

For Burbank folks, remember Mrs. Barnard and Messrs. Berry and Krause. Had Mrs. Barnard for Kidnegarten and 6tg grade with Mr. Berry for 5th and Mr. Krause for science.

From Eliot, remember coaches Hassler and Giebler, print shop's Joe Domenico, and Band's Hugh Palmer.

Enough for now.

Judd

Looking on internet, found web site for PUSD showing PHS. Read a posting for committee being formed to name small gym for Miss Joanne Owens who was Drill Team advisor for over 25 years until retiring. With so many responses from former Drill Team members of our class, I thought many would like to check into this. The URL is below:

Contact is Elizabeth "Liz" (Karl) Champion of Class of 1972. She can be reached at champion.elizabeth@pusd.us with support for this effort.
