Words of wisdom? See Ken Marschall’s comment (above). ...But, seriously, big thanks truly are due to the reunion committee for their efforts. There may be a late rush on tickets, however. I heard people want to meet Ralph Guthaus’ date, and the rabble may even crash the ballroom tonight.

Huge thanks to all who worked so hard to make this 50th reunion a success.  I enjoyed every minute.  The class of "68 is awesome.

We had a good turnout Saturday mid-day at Victory Park.

And a full house Saturday night at the Hilton.

We like the idea of scheduling a 3 or 4 day cruise for our 55th reunion.

Most everyone was there for the Sunday morning brunch. It was great to see so many PHS'ers.

What a time we had at the reunion!  Many thanks to the organizers. I repeatedly ponder why it is that I have no negative memories of my time at PHS, but had it reinforced as we reminisced even with those who I don’t remember knowing. I leave the reunion with the fondest of thoughts and feelings and will remain grateful for all those with whom I shared the initiation of adulthood. May you all live long and prosper. As to words of wisdom, I endorse all the comments that I have thus far read and feel to add the final thoughts of my most remarkable younger sister as she was dieing of brain cancer. “It’s all about the love.  Everything else is secondary. Please love one another.”  See you all in 5 years on the cruise, if not before.

In an answer to Keith Anvick's question regarding words of wisdom that we've tried to acquire more of over the past 50 years, here is my husband's and my list:

1. Faith
2. Tolerance
3. Understanding
4. Patience
5. Compassion

These five words encompass what we've tried to gain more of during the last 50 years.

Thank you to the Reunion team for planning such a wonderful event.  I have such admiration for you all.

I am so proud of our class - so many wonderfully talented and caring individuals who have made a difference in their communities.  WIsh there had been more tiime to catch up with everyone.  On my way home I thought of so many people from the past I missed seeing (Jane Scurr, Kathy Kolts, Melinda Seiler, Barbara Raymond, Lana Riggins, Carol Hurtig, Kathy McKelvey,Chris & Craig Kinard, Jean Dubinsky, and others)  and all the great times we shared in school.  Looking forward to that cruise in five years!

Now that the high has worn off, reflection has begun to set in on our 50th PHS class reunion. In all honesty, this was one of the best planned, and best executed reunions that I can remember. Grads and their guests will be talking about this one for a long, long time! Kudos to the planning team and all their helpers.

I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to planned & organized this 50th reunion. Modie and I, along with the help of Phil, Barry, & Anne made a great team. There were many, who's names are not listed, who made a significant contribution to the success of the reunion. The donations of so many made a major difference in what we were able to do. We have 2 last minute donations that we want to give a thank you to. Winton "Dan" Worswick and Joseph & Josefa Robledo for their $50.00 contribution. To all of you that came, I thank you, and for those that missed this I wish you had been here. It looks like Modie and I are in for another reunion. It looks like "The Love Boat" is in our future. We will take a break and then get back to all of you. Be good to each other and be of good cheer. Lets stay in touch.

Modie (Martin) Katz

To All, as Clay mentioned it was an honor to work on this reunion and a pleasure to work with the most competent and enthusiastic group of people that made this all happen.

But mostly it was such a pleasure to see everyone that attended have such a good time and make the effort to be there.  I truly hope that those that can, will join us for the next reunion.

Without All of you that came, and some of you that contacted us that could not come, this would not have been as rewarding.

Stay Healthy and Happy,  You have to smile when you see this photo...

Modie

Words of wisdom from Romans 12:17-21.

17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[d] says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”[e]

21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

The reunion was lots of fun seeing old friends and making new ones. It was well planned and greatly appreciate efforts of Modie and Clay and hard work by Anne, Phil, Nora and others who assisted. Looking forward to 55 year cruise and maybe earlier get together. It was too long not seeing old high school (and elementary and junior high) friends. Best wishes to all!

Sorry I was unable to come Saturday night. I would like to thank  Modie, Clay and the planning committee for all the time and effort in putting on a great reunion. It sounds like there is interest in a cruise for the 55th reunion, I think that sounds like a lot of fun.

May GOD Bless ya'll.

I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to each of you who participated in the planning and organization of our 50th reunion!  I really wanted to help in organizing the weekend, but as a caregiver to a 99 year old Mother, time became unavailable during the past few months, with May and June spending lots of time at hospitals, etc.  I would also like to thank those that contributed to the reunion by attending and also by helping with donations.

I think that we have been very fortunate to be alive at this point in history.  Many of our parents and their families went through a lot during the ‘40’s, and then we came along.  I feel blessed with having had a great education, opportunities, good friends and health, and financial security!  The time that I spent in the military was at first an unwelcome event, but looking back now, I am proud of having contributed to our country – we just need (now) to work harder earlier for peaceful solutions to many of the problems that we individually and as a country face.

I think that one of the highlights that I will remember from our reunion was bringing my Mother to the closing breakfast on Sunday.  She saw and remembered many of you who she knew through our church, school events, Hasting Ranch neighbors, and a few ladies who I dated in high school.  She never went to any of her high school reunions as she skipped two grades and went to work immediately after graduation in 1936 with (early) IBM machines, then raising a family.  She really enjoyed seeing many of you and enjoyed the comradery which she saw amongst us.

Put me down as being ready to help organizing a 55th reunion cruise or whatever we reach a concensus on!

Thanks to all the hard work that the Committee put into making this reunion special!  I enjoyed myself and was happy that I attended!

James Arrott, V, M. D.

I want to thank profusely the organizers of our 50th reunion of the PHS Class of 1968! Clay and Nora Werts, Modie Katz, Phil Denslow, et al., you worked unbelievably hard! We all appreciate that hard work and are glad you've already signed on to organize our 55th reunion on the Love Boat! All you
guys and gals ROCK! Thanks so much to Ken Marschall's and others' remarks earlier about what we have learned over 50 years since our graduation from PHS. We all contribute something to this planet Earth, our only home, during our lifetimes! Hopefully it is something positive. Remember we of our generation are the mere stewards of this planet for all future generations of humans and other beings! Let's never shirk our responsibilities to leave Earth a better place than what we found it in 1950! Take care of yourselves and your loved ones, and be kind to one another. As John Lennon once said, "Give peace a chance." Since we lost 2 great Americans, among many others, shortly before we all graduated in June 1968, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Robert Francis Kennedy, Sr., we should honor their memories and continue their visions for a better USA and the rest of this wonderful world! See you all again soon in 2023 for our 55th Reunion!

Hi-

Thanks, Jim Havalin - did I spell that right Jim - for posting Barry Schwam's music website.  I got to spend some time with Barry on Sunday. My husband and I just listened to the below youtube.  Barry - you were SOOO out there!  Awesome stuff.  I will let Robert Armstrong know - he will love it if he doesn't know already!  Have a great time in India.  I wasn't thinking Camels in India because there are more of a transportation than wildlife there.

How do we post a response to a specific person?I'm not seeing that opportunity under each person's post. Maybe I'm missing it. Anyway, thank you to James Arrott for his wise and encouraging words. I agree!

Confession - I did feel trepidation about coming to the reunion.  I have a very good LONG term memory (read short-term not so much) and sometimes replay mental videos of people in middle school and high school.   I shrank from the idea of "popular."   BUT - people at the reunion were really really welcoming and inclusive.  I hope that everybody there felt that.  We do grow up and more often than not for the better- hopefully, myself included.  I liked finding out what my classmates have done and are doing with their lives.  Lots of stories of kids and grandkids and/or careers and how people feel about where they are living.  So thanks to all and the best to you and yours.

Thank you to all who worked so hard to put on a fun and successful reunion. Everyone was friendly and gracious.

A big shout out to my Sierra Mesa homies. So satisfying to reconnect with those with whom I feel the closest... the ones who I grew up with in a tiny school in a little town. Love you all!

Below are Bill Cameron, Tom Dorman, Joyce Pollock, Mark Frederick (well, half of him.Oops.), Jeff Struthers, me, Barbara Rush, Mike May, Diane Schmidt, Ken Roane, Wyatt Dietrich and Christine Rebstock.

At my childhood home in Sierra Madre: Bill Cameron, Tom Dorman, Diane Schmidt, Linda Westman (with me).

With Janice Koch, fellow PHS '68 grad. She wasn't a Sierra Madre girl but we were friends at age 3!
