Gary Hesse

Class, I just received a message from our wonderful classmate Anne Hassell (Nelson) that her husband Pete, who has been battling cancer (now in his lungs), is again in the hospital and awaiting transfer to hospice care at home!  Please think of her (them) in your thoughts and prayers.  Anne is planning on being at our 55th reunion next year, let's hope for a miracle and that Anne will just be in our hearts and thoughts and at home with Pete at that time.

Gary

Terry Thompson

As I age, I find little comfort in what we are leaving for future generations to come. The 60's, our time, presented a whole new era of drug use, and some of our classmates were lost by experimation turning to addiction. Then in the 80's we saw cocaine at the forefront of modern Schedule 1 Narcotics. Pleantiful, easy to obtain and widly used, it destroyed lives and families alike. Now our grandchildren and even great grandchildren face fentanyl.

I was recently retained to locate a missing person, a young boy just 19 years of age who had left his family to find his life in California, and he found his moment of death instead. Within eight minutes of withdrawing $80.00 from his ATM account, he was reported deceased in an alley in Los Angeles. His body remained unidentified for nine days until I made a preliminary identification at the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office. This young boy will not follow his father into medicine, or his older brothers into adulthood. He will remain as just one of the three hundred who died on that day in America, dead at the hands of people dealing what I see as the most dangerous drug yet... fentanyl. He will return to his loved ones on Monday at an out of state airport, where he wil be greeted by a grieving family. I've gathered his effects from the shelter where he was living, and returned them to his family. On Tuesday, I will obtain the property on him when he was found and return that also. There is nothing sadder than going through these items and ferreting out what will increase their grief, or is in actuality dangerous. A whole life yet to be lived, shipped home FedEx in a cardboard box. Talk to your families, seek appropriate counselng, and report the criminals who profit from other people's lives.

Dear Terry Thompson, I believe your post came out of your Law profession?  Please know that we Aging Bulldogs HEAR YOU.  We all got old; some of us retired but we understand your frustration.  Issues today absolutely DEMAND that we do all we can to educate our young people, so that their problems don't defeat them.  Thank you for reminding the Class of '68 that we were right to stand against the status quo (in those days, Vietnam, from which some of our Class did not return).  Never believe your energy is not enough to keep your clients safe.  That thought grows into action.  It is noticed and - despite how scary it is - is enjoined by other compassionate people.  After 54 years, we are still here for a very good reason.  Please take care. ~ Frances (FKA Patti) Goff

Terry, your heartbreaking story just scratches the tip of the proverbial iceberg.   The world has changed in so many ways since we all graduated from PHS.  After college, I moved out of southern California to the San Francisco Bay Area. (The Bay Area was far different back in the 1970's.)  Ten years ago, we moved to South Western Washington, just outside of Portland.  The semi-rural lifestyle is so much more calming than highly populated cities.  In the last couple years it is surprising how many parents up here have pulled their kids out of public schools and either home-school them, or send them to private schools (if they can get in).  Like yourself, I continue to wonder what is going to happen to our country.  What a mess.......

Terry, Keith,

Amen!  I hear ya.  Not to be a Debbie Downer, but boy are we living in scary times.  Did you see the candid video clip a day or two ago showing the frightening nonsense and insanity that is apparently routine nowadays inside a Stanford Law class?  Inmates running the asylum.

Barry,  thanks for the post. It looks like they have refurbished the PHS signage. This might be a hooky idea but maybe when we are All at the 55th reunion we could meet at the campus and get our picture taken under the nice sign? Just a thought,

Hope to see you ALL in June...

Joe Silver (Silver)

Sadly I won't be able to attend our 55th reunion.  Since moving from Seattle to Warren Michigan the first week of 2020 I have had six medical surgeries and my 7th ( 3 heart ) is scheduled for the week of June 18th. It really sucks to be OLD! and to be in poor health. My cardiologist wouldn't let me fly anyway.  Have a Great reunion and with God's help I'll be there for our 60th.

Modie (Martin) Katz

Joe, we All wish you a fast and complete recovery from your surgeries and we will be thinking good thoughts about you. With great medical technology, good attitudes and Gods help we will see you at our 60th reunion. That's why we strive to have these reunions every 5 years so we always have a short runway to the next.
Till then...our prayers are with youπŸ™

Hi, Joe Silver, May you be raised on Eagle Wings, now, in June and beyond.  My sis, Bulldog Class of '65 had heart surgery recently and is in fine shape.  Warren, MI is one of the BEST places you could be so, we, your '68 classmates send all Blessings to you and pray God gives you all the strength we can send, too. ~ Frances (f.k.a. Wow, these are great!  Thank you for sharing.  Any idea on what year/date?

Walter Hoylman

I am pretty sure they were shot in 1968.  Probably Home Coming pep rally, but it might have been 1967.  I was in Mr. Mark's photography class all three years and I attended PHS 66 thru 68.  I did not shoot very many color photographs most are B&W.

Modie (Martin) Katz

Hey Everyone,

Don't forget to get your reservations in for the 55th reunion at the low price of $90 per person before May 15th.

We are also looking for anyone that might have a relative that might want to come and be our un-official photographer at the event(s).  We can offer them Free ticket for services rendered.  Let us know if you have anyone that would be interested.  They would download the pictures to the web site after the event(s).

Hope to see everyone then,

Modie

The recently posted band and drill team photos must be old.  As a member of the PHS band, the pep rally band wore the white shirts and red wind breakers, zipped half way up, rain or shine!  I don't recall when that "uniform" was adopted but I think that these photos are way before our stint or incarceration at good old PHS.  Can anyone else recognize any of the band members?
